Endra acquires Swiss startup Planlabs to build out AI for mechanical engineering

ZURICH, Sept. 15, 2026 – Endra, the AI platform for mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) engineering, today announced the acquisition of Planlabs, a Swiss startup building AI for mechanical engineering.
“AI is going to change how every building in the world is engineered, and we're creating the software category for it right now. Endra takes on the repetitive work and gives engineers back time for judgment and design,” said Niklas Lindgren, CEO and co-founder of Endra. “With Planlabs we bring mechanical engineering into the platform, and take another step toward the complete MEP vision.”
Planlabs was founded in Zurich in June 2024, and has grown to a team of five Ph.D.s. in mathematics and computer science. The company has built geometry, data and physics engines that automatically design building systems and check them against physical constraints. That technology will form the basis of mechanical engineering on the Endra platform.
“We started Planlabs with the belief that mechanical systems can be engineered fundamentally differently, automatically generating coordinated, collision-free solutions while keeping the engineer in control,” said Rea Sodero, CEO and co-founder of Planlabs. “With Endra, we have found a team that shares this vision and has the ambition, technology and reach to bring it to engineers around the world. Together, we have the opportunity to build something much bigger: a platform that transforms how every MEP discipline is engineered.”
The acquisition expands Endra's technology roadmap toward the full MEP vision. Once technology integration is complete, engineers will be able to run mechanical and electrical design from a single platform. A plumbing module will follow in 2027.
The acquisition follows a $50 million Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz, with earlier support from Notion Capital and Norrsken VC. The full Planlabs team will join Endra. Zurich becomes Endra’s fifth office, joining Stockholm, New York, San Francisco and London.
