From Endra to Revit: Quick Start

Bring your Endra MEP design into Revit in minutes - using your organizations families of choice. This guide covers basic prerequisites, mapping, import, and common troubleshooting.

Prerequisites

  • Revit installed with the Endra Revit add‑in
  • A Revit model that matches your Endra project context
  • Relevant Revit families loaded for the systems you plan to place

Step 1: Prepare your Revit model

  • Open the Revit model associated with your Endra project.
  • Confirm required families are loaded for each component type you expect to import.
  • Optional: Create a working view and temporary workset for easier QA after import.

Step 2: Connect your Endra account

  • Launch the Endra add‑in in Revit.
  • Sign in to your Endra account when prompted.
  • Use the project drop‑down to locate and select your Endra project.

Step 3: Map Endra objects to Revit families

  • Review the products grid shown by the add‑in.
  • For each Endra object type, choose the Revit family and type you want to use.
  • Click Save mappings to reuse this configuration on future projects.
Tips for faster mapping:
  • Prefer system families or well‑parameterized loadable families with consistent connectors.
  • Keep type names consistent across projects to maximize reuse of saved mappings.

Step 4: Import your design

  • When mapping is complete, click To Revit.
  • The add‑in places mapped objects in your open model.
  • Inspect in 3D and plan views. Check for clashes and coordination with architecture and other trades.

Post‑import QA checklist

  • Visibility: Elements appear in expected views and categories
  • Coordinates: Placement aligns with project coordinates and levels
  • Connectivity: MEP connectors are correctly oriented and connected
  • Parameters: Key parameters (system, size, type) match expectations

Troubleshooting

  • Nothing appears after import
    • Verify you are in the correct model and view. Check view filters and categories.
    • Confirm families are loaded and the mapping uses valid types.
  • Elements are misplaced or rotated
    • Check the project base point, true north, and level assignments.
  • Families fail to place
    • Ensure target families have compatible connectors and required parameters.

If issues persist, re‑open the mapping grid and adjust the affected types, then re‑run To Revit.
